ALLELUIA
CHRIST IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED, ALLELUIA! What a joy it was for us to be able to proclaim these words in our worship at All Saints and All Hallows last Sunday, with so many of you able to be there either physically or virtually via YouTube. These words take on even more significance when you have journeyed through Lent and Holy Week in a prayerful way, when you have engaged fully with the challenge and sheer significance of Jesus' journey to the cross, as so many of you will have done via Zoom and/or the Holy Week in a Bag resources. So now what? After the jubilation of Easter Sunday, this coming Sunday we hear the story of Doubting Thomas, the disciple who had to see and touch Jesus to believe he was indeed raised from the dead. Over the course of this last year surely we have all experienced doubts, found ourselves, like Thomas, doubting the hope that Jesus’ resurrection offers. After all we are only human. Even with our doubts, the story of Thomas reassures us afresh of the hope, the promise of the resurrection, of new life, of the Easter light that will not be overcome by the darkness. It draws us back to God, let it draw you back to church (either in person or via YouTube), back to the Body of Christ, back to the community of faith where all are welcome, doubters and believers! |
